Invitation to 2016 Ontario Oxford Cup Qualifier
OSDU Members, Coaches & Students,
Once again it is time for the 2016 Ontario Oxford Cup Qualifier. All OSDU Members are welcome to participate in this wonderful and exciting British Parliamentary Style tournament.
The Ontario Student Debating Union (OSDU) is pleased to invite you to the 2016 Ontario Oxford Cup Qualifier to run October 29-30, 2016. This tournament will act as the qualifying tournament for the National Oxford Cup Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba from November 17-20, 2016. Please understand that should you qualify for this tournament, you will be expected to register in very short notice and book transportation to Winnipeg within this three week time period.
The Ontario Oxford Cup Qualifier will be hosted at:
1451 Avenue Road
The registration deadline for this tournament will be October 19th, 2016, at midnight (11:59 pm). Please ensure that you have completed all items on this checklist by that time.
There is a registration limit of THREE teams from the same school. There will be approximately a 56 team cap for the tournament, so please register as soon as possible.

Any attending adults must fill out the Adult Registration Form for food service and judging reasons, no registration fee is required.
Cheque for $110 per team (or $55.00 per debater) made payable to “Ontario Student Debating Union” and mailed to the following address:
4221 Longmoor Drive
Completed and attached the Ontario Student Debating Union 2016 Provincial Oxford Cup Qualifier Consent to Participation, Waiver of Rights Liability Release and Insurance Agreement waiver (included with the attached invitation) for each debater participating in the event, and mailed to address above (preferably with the registration cheque).
IMPORTANT - CHAPERONES
All debaters are expected to have an adult chaperone present and registered for the event. Unchaperoned debaters will not be permitted.
All participants must have completed all of the above in order to participate in the Qualifier. Failure to do so by participants will result in disqualification of their team from the Qualifier (this is a team event – no students will be available to pair with individual participants in the event that a team participant is disqualified; ‘iron man-ning’ by participants will not be permitted for this Qualifier.) No exceptions will be permitted to these requirements.
This tournament will be conducted in British Parliamentary Format. It will be composed of four impromptu rounds of debate on Saturday, followed by quarter final, semi-final, and final rounds on Sunday. There will be no prepared resolution for this tournament. We will be using 5 minute speaking times for each speech to remain consistent with the National level Oxford Cup Qualifier. All debates will take place in English only.
