Lisgar Novice Debate Tournament 2017

OSDU is happy to pass on the following invitation from the Lisgar Society of Debate to its inaugural Lisgar Novice Debate Tournament:
"Dear Coaches and Debaters,
It is with great pleasure that The Lisgar Society of Debate would like to invite you to the first ever Lisgar Novice Debate Tournament. This is a special tournament that is only available to debaters in their first 2 years of debate, no matter what grade they are in.
Date: Saturday March 4th, 2016. 8:15-9:00 (registration) - 17:15
Location: Lisgar Collegiate Institute, 29 Lisgar Street. Ottawa, Ontario, K2P 0B9
Fee: $40 per team
Team Cap: Due to our limited rooms, there will be a team cap of 40 teams. Slots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will be an 8 team cap per school. It is possible that we can accept more than 8 team should space open up. Accommodation for extra teams can be organized via firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com;
We will be holding 4 rounds, 3 of which are be open adjudication. The 4th round is a hidden semi-final, and is closed adjudication. After the semi-final, there will be an open final, followed by awards.
This is a special tournament that is only available to debaters in their first 2 years of debate, no matter what grade they are in. The tournament will be held in the Canadian Parliamentary (CP) debating style. No resolutions will be prepared. Teams will receive 15 minutes of preparation time before each round. CP breaks down as the following:
PM: 7 minutes
MO: 7 minutes
MC: 7 minutes
LO: 10 minutes
PM: 3 minutes
Both split-opp and PMRE will be offered.

Please make cheques payable to Lisgar Collegiate Institute. Payment can be mailed to the school (Brian Beard ℅ Lisgar Collegiate Institute, 29 Lisgar Street, Ottawa ON K2P 0B9) or can be submitted at the tournament.
The registration fee includes snacks and beverages throughout the day. During the 45 minute lunch break, teams are encouraged to go off property to Elgin Street. Elgin Street is a 2-minute walk away and has many options for food at multiple price points, including: McDonald's, Shawarma; Pizza Hut; Johnny Farina and multiple coffee/sandwich shops.
During rounds, OSDU will be running workshops for coaches so that they can better support their students and we can develop stronger eastern Ontario debating clubs and collegiality. More information on the workshops will follow after online registration is complete.
