Upper Canada College ProAm 2018
Dear OSDU Members, Teachers, Judges & Coaches,
OSDU is happy to pass on the following invitation to the Upper Canada College ProAm 2018 tournament -- a NON-OSDU EVENT -- on November 18, 2018:
“Dear Coaches and Debaters,
It is our pleasure to invite you to Upper Canada College on Sunday November 18th, 2018 for our 2nd annual British Parliamentary Pro-Am Debate Tournament. This tournament will require partnerships of senior (“pro”) debaters in grades 10/11/12 with junior (“amateur”) debaters in grades 7/8/9 or inexperienced 10 from the same school in an effort to support mentorship and growth in our debating community. This is meant as a training opportunity and so all levels of debate at the junior level are welcome, novices included (however some knowledge and club experience would be beneficial as no formal training will be offered). Seniors should have previous British Parliamentary debate experience.
DATE: Sunday November 18th, 2018
TIME: 7:45 am – 6:30 pm
LOCATION: Upper Canada College, 200 Lonsdale Road, Toronto, ON
TEAMS: Each school is invited to register up to 4 teams. Additional teams may be available after the registration
deadline. We are capping this event at 48 teams. Registration will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
COACHES: Every school group must be accompanied by an adult faculty or parent, who may be asked to judge.
We are attempting to recruit enough university judges so coaches can watch their debaters, however we may require your assistance and thank you in advance. Students will not be able to debate without a supervising teacher.
REGISTRATION FEE: The registration fee is $80 per team, payable to “Upper Canada College”. A deposit of $40 per team is required by Friday October 26th to hold your spot, the remainder to be brought to the tournament . Please send payment to:
