Welcome to OSDU's blog, a place to explore many topics of interest for those who love debate and great oratory!
We will be regularly adding posts on a variety of debating and public speaking-related subjects by a variety of guest writers. This blog is intended to be both a resource for OSDU Members, Coaches and their Students, and a forum where Members can raise and discuss subjects of interest.
Please also be aware that this space is not for arguing the results of your last tournament, or the selection of of debaters for national or international events. While we understand that decisions made at tournaments, etc can feel controversial, that you may believe there are strong points supporting your case, and certainly every debater is entitled to their opinion, any questions/issues regarding the results of debate or oratory tournaments must be taken up with the tournament organizers only. The OSDU blog is not a place to rehash the results of any tournament, question the integrity of decisions made during a tournament, and/or seek to overturn a tournament's results.
Any comments to this effect will not be allowed to be posted to the OSDU blog, and additional actions may be taken by the OSDU Webmaster/Board to follow up with the Member school's staff representative depending on the nature of the comments.
The OSDU blog is a safe space for all debaters. It's purpose is to help debaters and public speakers better understand their craft, and to better enjoy debating and public speaking. Like debating and public speaking, the OSDU blog is open to all, no matter what your skill level. The OSDU blog will be supportive of everyone who posts in a respectful and honest manner.Read More
